White Sauce for Pasta

White Sauce and Rice

This is a recipe I received from my friend Daniel.

This seems to be easy to use on a variety of things including pasta and brocolli!

It was my first time making it and he advised that the actual measurements are approximate.

For some reason, mine didn’t come out quite white, I think the next time, I won’t use as much of the ingredients and will add more only if needed! I also think part of it was with the oil and garlic being a bit burned! YIKES!

I thought I had some pasta, so used brown rice instead! Sorry the picture didn’t come out very well! Need to work on it!

So What DO You Eat?

Anyone who has been Veg*n for more than 5 minutes and has let peole know, will get this question asked of them. The answer is real simple…the same as YOU except no animal products are consumed.

We eat a variety of foods, and in many cases, MORE of a variety than Omnis (Omnivores aka meat eaters or Carnivore if you prefer).  I know in my short time as a Vegan, I’ve had more of a variety than I did all my years as an Omni.

I’m also finding that cooking isn’t too bad! Before I had the  intention, however it just seemed so tedius and many ingredients I used only once. Now I’m finding many recipes call for the same ingredients and some I’m quickly running out of!

Almost anything an Omni would eat, we can as well! Instead of meat, we may use TVPs (Textured Vegatable Protiens) or Tofu. Some Veg*ns refer to TVPs as Omni Subs.

Recipes that call for eggs, we may use tofu, banana or egg replacer (NOT Egg Beaters–those are still made out of eggs), depending on the recipe.

Many foods are what we refer to as “Accidently Vegan”, even these products we have to continually read labels as recipes change. Some manufacturers make it easy on us by listing if a product has Milk or Eggs in it. Of course, it’s not there to help us Vegans, but for those who may have allergies. Honey is *not* Vegan in many of our eyes and most products do not have this listed as an allergent warning. There are some Vegans who may consume honey, however, it is still a product of an animal.

For items that do not have this convenient listing, we have to read labels…more on that in another post!

However, if you have a Veg*n friend, ask them for some recipes or meal ideas. This will help them feel welcome in your home (or you in theirs)!

Scared

I keep thinking of what it would be like when I do finally meet someone. Will my inexperience scare him away. Will he be patient enough for me to find my way.

I don’t want to let my inexperience and shyness scare guys away either. I want it to happen so badly, but at the same time, I’m scared that I’ll screw everything up.

Veganism

V – gun is how it’s pronounced. Some refer to it as a strict vegetarian. Vegans do not consume anything that is animal derived (including milk, eggs and honey). We also try to avoid using products or wearing clothes that are animal derived (including leather, silk and wool). Also, we try to support companies who do not engage in testing their products on animals.

Some feel that being a Vegan is difficult, but it really isn’t. True you’ll have to learn what ingredients are made from animals and become a label reader, but once you begin to learn which items are safe, it is quite easy. And if you’re not lucky enough to have a Vegan store in your area, there are plenty of places online you can order from.

NA$CAR

I’ve been following NA$CAR off and on for years. Around 2000, I started to really get into it after chatting with folks on another forum.

I follow all the series, I also like other forms of racing.

I do find some things difficult, especially now that I’m a Vegan. For the most part, there are not a lot of conflicts, short of sponsors. However, some of the guys participate in activities that I no longer support.

Here I’ll post thoughts on races, what’s happening with teams and/or drivers and just my 2 cents in general!

Dating

Yes that fun time!

Pretty much every night since I was 14, I’ve cried myself to sleep over this issue.

I’ve never been popular with the boys and my lack of social skills with guys proves it.

Whether I’ve been thin or fat, I haven’t been able to find a man. I still hope to have children and time is running out.

Even if I don’t ever have kids of my own, just to FINALLY have the love of a man. I feel that because my dad didn’t want me, that no other man wants me either. And of course, being too fat and ugly doesn’t help either.

I pray that there’s a guy out there with a pulse who in the end can see past that and show me what I’ve missed out on for so long.

Christianity

This will follow my journey to grow as a Christian.

It has been quite a struggle for me, even though I have been a Christian for over 20 years.

Some of the writings here will be my thoughts and struggles, others will be from my devotionals that I hope to stay consistent with.

Animal Rights

Yes those “crazy” people! A few years ago, I felt the same, but now I’m one of them!

I do not believe that animals are here for our use, but to be our friends and companions.

Animals do not have a say in how they are to be used, man makes that decision for them and it is not fair!

Animals have feelings, have their own families and deserve life and freedom!

This will be my 2 cents on the issue and updates on the continued fight!

Bootcamp Here I Come!

I’ve been saying since I first began Tae Bo that I was going to become certified! It has been 7 years and I *still* have not gone! 2007 HAS to be my year!

I’m planning on taking a trip to London in August, so I’ll have a lot of saving and training to do over the next 10 months!

This is where I’ll note my journey and the progress as I get my rear into gear!
